Alicia Lane-Outlaw Receives Deaf Citizen Achievement Award
ST. LOUIS PARK, MN (July 30, 2009) – Alicia Lane-Outlaw, Creative Director for AllOut Marketing, received the Petra F. Howard Achievement Award at the recent 58th Biennial Conference for the Minnesota Association of Deaf Citizens (MADC). Named after the association’s first woman president, the award recognizes Lane-Outlaw for her dedication and personal achievement toward the interests of deaf people in Minnesota.
“Alicia Lane-Outlaw is well known throughout the local Deaf Community for her outstanding efforts and support for Deaf/Hard of Hearing and DeafBlind accessibility,” says Cynthia Weitzel, MADC and Public Policy Coordinator for the Commission of Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing Minnesotans. “Lane-Outlaw recently testified at the legislature, helping pass the Technology and Web Accessibility Standards Bill, and continues to make social equality and accessibility for our community an everyday priority.”
Alicia Lane-Outlaw, a passionate Deaf/Hard of Hearing advocate, was recently elected president of the Minnesota Association of Deaf Citizens (MADC). She also leads the award-winning team for TCDeaf.com, which publishes weekly news and events for the Twin Cities signing community.
Minnesota Association of Deaf Citizens was established in 1885 and is a non-profit, 501(c)( 4) organization. The mission of MADC is to preserve, protect, and promote political, educational, economic, and social equality for signing Deaf Minnesotans.
